My roommate told me how he got a hernia. He said his balls hurt so much that he couldn't walk and needed an operation. I'm scared of getting one particularly since I do weight training. Anybody have more info on this? _________________ Read the advertisement rules:

| Well a hernia can happen to anyone, but you are at more risk with doing certain exercises. Overexertion of the abdomin and groin areas could cause a hernia. Although, I have never experienced it before and I push myself to the limit with exertion while exercising. So I guess it is just a risk you have to take, and hope you are not one of the unlucky people to experience a hernia. |

I highly doubt you'll even have a CHANCE at getting a hernia unless you're squatting more than you're weight.
Worry about it as much as you would worry about Africanized killer bees.. |

I ain't even squatting anymore because I get grip failure with my dumbbells when I go heavy. I do lunges instead for quads.
I guess I won't have to worry about it for now. |

Try doing squats with a bar instead of dumbells and put it on your shoulders.
I highly recommend keeping squats in your routine, it does more than just quads. If you belong to a gym, do hack squats on the machine if you can't squat the bar yet. |

| I don't have a bar at the moment. I'll only get one later if I really need to. Not much space in my room for one, so I'd have to exercise in the lounge room which I don't want to do. But anyway we'll see later when I bulk. At the moment still cutting and am not making any gains on strength. |
