If you do, what instrument do you play? Does it help keep away the blues?
I started playing the electric guitar last December. I feel that it has given me more purpose to life and it helps in general. One thing I've realised is that being an introvert is an advantage for learning music. You have more time and you don't mind being alone. I think that maybe introverts can learn music at a faster pace than extroverts.
It has also helped me converse with others who share my interest. _________________ To recieve emails when someone replies to your post, go to profile then select "Yes" under "Always notify me of replies".

Maybe you could start a band up Josh?
I used to play in a band, it's great fun. Especially the jamming. |

Does playing the drums on RockBand count? hehe I don't play any musical instruments anymore, but I used to play piano and violin when I was younger. Learning an instrument with SA definitely would have its advantages. I should consider getting caught up in piano lessons again. I'm afraid my violin is long since gone, but a piano is forever... or at least until someone bothers to move it. It weighs a ton!
What songs do you play, Josh?
What instrument did you play in your band, Boudu? And what was the name of the band? _________________ "Remember that no one can make you feel inferior without your consent." -Eleanor Roosevelt |

Hehe, yes they're beasts! If you have a piano lying around it's a shame not to use it, Angie. You should start playing again then maybe we could form an SAF band. Rehearsals might be a bit tricky though.
I used to play guitar, but as my AvPD got worse I moved onto bass so I could stand at the back and hide lol. As for the name, it's too embarrassing to say, and I'm a bit worried ex-band members might google it and find me posting here! |

By the way Boudu, you don't have to tell me.
I will just pretend I know and sell the informations to Angie for five home made cakes!
Then I shall tell her something really impressive, like you played with Jools Holland and his rhythm and blues orchestra. If she googles them she will find so many of them in the band that she won't have a clue if I am telling the truth or not!! |

| Hmm, I'm incredibly curious now. I would gladly bake five cakes to find out the name! Well, if we don't know what your band was called we could at least come up with a band name for us at SAF. It's gotta be cool though, maybe a pun. Hehe |

You want to call the band hmmm!
Not sure if it's catchy enough! You might need to come up with something better. |

| There was also a song called, "Mmm mmm mmm mmm". And it wasn't from a Campbell's Soup commercial either which is the most surprising thing of all. |

Boudu, what gear do you have at home (i.e. amp, guitar, bass)?
I've always wondered why people would play bass - the guy with the lead guitar always gets all the glory, even despite the fact that its a team effort. I can understand why you might choose it based on the reason you mentioned. |

Yeah the bass guitar isn't as glamorous as lead guitar I guess, though some bands do seem to provide exceptions to that rule like the Sex Pistols, Police, Beatles, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, they all had pretty prominent bassists. Though I think generally you need to be more of an exhibitionist to play lead. I used to play guitar but I'd need to drink loads before I got the courage to get up and play, then I'd just play really crap because I was so drunk!
I've got a fair bit of gear at home which I've collected over the years. I've built up a small home studio in the spare bedroom with a small mixing desk, keyboard, guitar, bass, a few effects and a computer. I have to keep the noise down though, so I don't use the amp apart from to dump clothes on. |
