Hello everyone, its so nice to participate in a forum where you know other members are suffering from the same disorder. Ever since a kid I used to be scared of speaking up or reading news in class. But so long as I remember I did not have accompanying symptoms although I used to feel anxious inside. Rarely I used to sweat but sweat I would a lot when exercising etc. But last year changed all that. I started blushing & sweating at the sight of someone, never mind if they are passersby on the street who smile or a colleague at work. I didnt know what had happened to me all of a sudden. I went to my PCP who ordered some blood tests. He was shocked to find my testosterone was abysmally low. He referred me to an endocrinologist who put me on testo replacement therapy. I started on that and in a month or two found I was feeling better, but the sweat episodes were still there tho not as much as before. The endo ordered more blood tests and pretty much ruled out any other possible deficiency. He referred me to a psychiatrist who has put me on Buspar and has been a week now. But it has so far increased my chances of sweat episodes. When asked the psychiatrist said the drug might initially increase symptoms but will eventually decrease them. I just wanted to tell others in this group my experiences and seek anyone who has my kind of a situation (low testo + SA). Hope to hear from u guys soon...

Welcome to the forums killsa. Interesting to hear about the low testo. If the sweating is still there, has the anxiety gone at least? _________________ Read the advertisement rules:

The anxiety is still there and in fact it has increased ever since I started on Buspar. There is also some depression which was not there earlier. So I am not sure what to make of this.
Oh btw, my endo had ordered an MRI of the brain and found a micro-adenoma in the pituitary. But he said it was pretty small to have caused low T. I am supposed to have another MRI next year to see if its really growing.
When I was researching online, I found that low T can cause a drop in serotonin (5-HT) leading to increased 5-HT receptor sensitivity. And restoration of T might take a long time to restore 5-HT sensitivity back (and probably not restore it to original levels). |
