    Kony 2012

I'm doing my part to spread the word here. Many of you may have already heard about it already though as it has gone viral lol. He's basically a guy in Africa recruiting children as soldiers and having them kill their parents and his only goal is to stay in power. Ridiculous that this still goes on in 2012.

KONY 2012 is a film and campaign by Invisible Children that aims to make Joseph Kony famous, not to celebrate him, but to raise support for his arrest and set a precedent for international justice.

This is quite the interesting concept. What a great way to take advantage of vigilantism.

I know almost nothing about the about the whole situation except what I've seen in the documentary, so I don't feel comfortable throwing my ignorant support behind the cause, especially when Invisible Children supports military intervention. They also monetarily support the Ugandan Army and the Sudan People's Liberation Army which have themselves been accused of rape and looting. The Council on Foreign Relations also accused Invisible Children of manipulating facts to their advantage.

I know Koney and the LRA are despicable, but I don't know that I want to give this charity and the Ugandan Army and SPLA my support, let alone whether their strategy for bringing Koney to justice is a good one, or even feasible. Come to think of it, isn't this a bit like Bin Laden? Say they're successful and they win support for military intervention and capture/kill Koney: what's to stop a new leader stepping in? Mightn't we also be drawing ourselves into another (I imagine smaller) Afghanistan/Iraq?

I really have no idea, as I'm sure many of the movement's supporters don't either, and I frankly think that's irresponsible. Now excuse me while I climb down from my saddle.

I think that a lot of these children have been coerced and indocrinated into these negative life styles and views.

Apparently the guy who started Kony 2012 was recently arrested and put in the hospital for vandalizing cars and masturbating in public... that can't be good for a cause.

Arrest him? He should probably be executed.
I've seen the kinds of stuff that goes on in some of these African countries, it is savage.

That's what they do after they arrest him. Put he'd probably be killed in a gunfight anyway.
