This topic may be a little strange but I figured I'd make the post anyways.

I can honestly say that getting absorbed by a movie is one of the most relaxing feelings in the world. Turn the lights off, no phone no nothing. I'm sure everyone has their one little thing that no matter what is going on in their lives, that one thing will put them at ease and make them forget for however long how bad things are. Well for me personally a really good movie does it for me. It could be a comedy, an action, a romance, or a mix. For example, today I watched Meet Joe Black for the first time and for 3 hours I didn't think one bit about my problems or my anxiety. I was immersed and completely drawn into the story and it's characters. It was wonderful.

So I'm curious to know, despite everyones SA what one thing makes you feel the same way I feel about movies?

I haven't seen that movie. I might try and get my hands on it later and watch it.

I get immersed in movies too, except for romance/chick flicks. 3 hours is not long enough though for this to be a real solution.

Ya I see your point but I'm not talking about a solution, just saying I think everyone should have a chance to be happy and free from worry for however short of time and movies seem to do the trick for me.

Music usually does it for me. No matter how shitty the day was, i just go for a drive, crank up the music, and just get engulfed by the sounds. It doesn't matter what type of music it is either. Be it rock, rap, classical, or oldies, all i need is a soothing melody or a good beat and my problems melt away for the time being.

*ahem*

Back on topic, movies don't always work like that for me. If it's a really good one then I get immersed. Same with books and music.

Honestly, the one thing that seems to calm me, and make me inexplicably happy is sitting outside on a beautiful day. I'm perfectly content just being outdoors, and observing nature. It's kind of weird, but I can't be alone here, right?

I can certainly groove with that, when my allergies aren't acting up.

Sleeping in a car or bus is also something I find relaxing. I really like to travel, actually, and I don't have any problems sitting on a bus or train or plane for long hours.

Sometimes movies will keep me from thinking, but something will happen in a movie that will trigger an emotion or thought and I will have to stop the movie until I can get past that feeling.

Movies yeah, they can absorb you for a while especially a good action or sci fi I think when it's completely unrealistic.

I guess i'm pretty lucky but spending time with my mum makes me utterly happy unless we have to go out and be put in an uncomfortable situation I find just being around her makes me forget.
