I'm just curious but what medications have you tried for your anxiety? Were they successful? What side effects did you get?

I've tried zoloft. The first year or so I took it I had good results. My anxiety level went down a lot and I actually made friends. Then it stopped working...so I went off it.

Tried zoloft again last year and it didn't help at all. Now I'm on cymbalta. It's helped my depression a lot. But not so much anxiety. I'm going to look into going on propranolol.

The only side affects I've ever had on meds are really vivid and intense dreams.

I was put on Paxil, which did nothing, and then Effexxor, which also did nothing, by my doctor. They didn't have much effect on me that I noticed. Eventually I started to forget to take the medication some days and then just stopped taking it.

Where to start... Laughing

I've been on medication on-off for the past 3 years since I left school - valium for a short period before taking seroxat, went cold turkey before requiring beta-blockers (and sleeping pills for that first week) before 20mg and now 40mg of Citalopram as 20 wasn't enough for me to stop the anxiety taking over.

I've been on 40mg of Citalopram for 6 months now, and I think it has an effect - any depressed moods are not prolonged, they just seem to come and go - it's going to see therapists and those sorts of people that keeps me sane though as I don't like discussing it with my family, not that they're not cool with the situation, just that we try to keep things as normal as we can in the household for my younger sister's sake.

When I first went to my doctor in 2000 she put me on Aropax (Paxil) to try. At the time I did not reveal it was actually social anxiety but that I had anxiety and panic attacks in certain situations. It helped stop the panic attacks and gave me enough confidence and stability is probably the best word to describe the effect I got from the drug. I was on a small dose, so I never knew if I'd achieved things through determination or from the drug. I went off it about a year later as I wanted to do things naturally but the drug did help break the pattern in the start and that was helpful.

Tried multiple SSRI's, caused awful, awful feelings. I'm not depressed so I didn't think that was the right answer anyway.

Buspar didn't do much of anything other than give me head shocks.

Tried amitryptalin, put me in a fog, stopping taking it after the first dose.

Beta blockers are the most successful but they do not solve the problem in my head. I still take them when needed.

I just started taking propranolol. It seems to actually work on making me feel less anxious!

Citalopram all the way. The side effects were weird at first, but then became kind of cool. Couldn't concentrate on things like reading the newspaper, but I could still study, and I seemed to have this incessant monologue in my head. Couldn't sit/stand still either. Every time I was waiting for the bus I'd pace up and down muttering to myself - I must've looked like a right weirdo. I also felt more enthusiastic about things - started using words like "love" and "hate" more - seemed to give things more colour, and I think I became a bit more impulsive. There was also delayed ejaculation, which wasn't much of an issue until I started seeing someone, at which point it became something of a bonus...

I have used a lot of medicine like lexapro, Zoloft and so now…. my doctor keeps on changing medicines. He has now asked me to try biron. I hope this one will be as effective as the other medicines. Yesterday I went for a check up then my doctor advised me to take biron, well, I can’t object to his suggestions because he has always been right. Nevertheless, I searched for some information about this medicine I found a lot of information about this medicine on this page www.drugdelivery.ca/s3121-s-BIRON.aspx according to the article it seems to be a very effective medicine. Hence, I have decided to take as from today.
