I used to get grounded a lot and for long periods of time. I developed a reputation for never being able to go anywhere, and so now on most weekends I just sit at home. I desperately want to go out on the weekends, but whenever I get the chance, I get incredibly scared and sort of dread going out. I even sort of dread being seen by more popular people because I think they'll think I don't look good. Is it possible that I've developed social anxiety?

Perhaps you need to pick one thing on the weekend and show up there. Or mention it to one of your friends and say you'd like to go and as far as you know you haven't done anything lately to get you grounded so would they like to go with you to whatever.

Everything you do in life is one step at a time, but especially as you start to go out in the world.

Be less concerned with what 'cool' people think or do and concentrate more on being the authentic real you .
